  • Dr Luca Donner is an Assistant Professor at American University in the Emirates. Previously, Dr Donner held academic positions at various Universities in Dubai. He has also taught in Italy at the Universities of Ferrara, Padova, Udine and Brescia.

    Dr Donner holds a PhD in Architecture from Lusiada University, Lisbon and a master’s of Architecture from the University of Venice. He is a licensed architect by the Italian National Board of Architects and has over twenty years of experience in the practice.
    In addition, Dr Donner is the author of research papers and architecture critic essays in which he investigates potential new ways of living and working. Informed by an inclusive and multidisciplinary design methodology, his approach to architecture is based on a careful consideration of culture and society, together with considerations of sustainability and environmental issues.
    Dr Donner’s designs have been extensively published in international architecture magazines and books, as well as exhibited at the Architecture Biennale of Venice; the Young Italian Architects Biennial; the Architecture Center, Houston; the Architecture Foundation, London; the Van Alen Institute of New York; Louisiana Museum of Modern Art; Humlebaek; the Museum of Architecture, Moscow; the Daegu Architectural Culture Biennale; the 24th UIA Tokyo Congress; and “100 Architects of the Year 2017"" in Seoul.
    Dr Donner has served as jury member of the Exhibition Design Competition of the Korean Pavilion at Expo 2020, Dubai and the Architizer A+ Awards 2020.
